Hi Guys, got an e-mail yesterday from a new kettle owner in Scunthorpe who saw my regular advert at the back of the kettle clubs "flexi flier".
Anyone who receives the "flexi flier" may have seen my advert on the area meetings page for North Lincolnshire/South Yorkshire. It gives all my contact details and despite the ad being shown for well over a year now, this is the first time that anybody has contacted me.
The guys name is Rick and he got in touch after buying and restoring his very nice "K" model and then wondering where all the other kettle owners were hiding in North Lincolnshire.
I've had the same problem over the last 27 years since I bought FAB, very rarely meeting up with other kettle owners and when I saw the request in the "flier" for area organisers, I thought it was a very good reason to place the ad.
I think one of the main reasons for this is that there just aren't many kettles in Lincolnshire, especially around Grimsby and Scunthorpe, I don't know any other kettle owners in Grimsby.
So we had a good chat on the phone and we've decided to meet up at South Leverton tonight (26th June) weather permitting. I've also sent PM's to a couple of other forum members who might like to meet there and if anybody else wants to come along, the more the merrier.
Lets see if we can beat the best gathering of kettles that I've seen in Lincolnshire, (Lincoln bikefest, 8 kettles) a few weeks ago.
The meeting at South Leverton is held at "The Plough" pub near Retford, post code DN22 0BT. Its held every second and fourth Wednesdays throughout the summer (what summer?) and the details can be googled.
See you all there, Steve Wharton.
